Alpha Playtest

Howdy,

This is Spice and I wanted to let you all in on what is going on with this first ever DevBlog post.

First off, I wanted to remind everyone that Starlight is in a sort of Alpha build right now. There is a lot that has been done and is ready, however there are many things we are working on and will expand on before we can say we are done and its open to the whole world.

  • Expansion with five additional Civilizations (The Assembly, Consortium, Court of Twilight, Kyrash Hive, and the Tend’Rali Rass-kot Expedition Treaty)

  • Expansion with six additional player species (Eki-ot, Obar, Shlista, Mano’Ula, Heha’Ala, and Nua’Illa)

  • Creation and finalization of the Starship Operations Manual

  • Character Record Sheets

  • And much more

Much of this content is already mostly completed, we just want to put some more polish and expand on some concepts a bit more before we say we are done with them.

Secondly, we are a very small team that is working on this as a passion project. If you enjoy what you see, keep checking in and engage in the comments and the like. Feel free to share the site as well, the more the merrier.

Starlight is supposed to be a free-to-play living setting, and for that to work, we need to keep a strong an engaged community. I promis that there will be no ad support or anything like that, but there are plans for subscription based content in the near future for exclusive content and previews with the proceeds going to keep the site running and expanding. I can also promise you that there will be AI generated content anywhere in this project.

And lastly, the Parallax System is fairly complete and comprehensive. It has some rough bits around the edges, but we are working on that as we all play and progress through the setting. The game mechanics are available in the downloadable version of the core rules. Said downloadable versions will be updated fairly regularly as content is expanded and refined. There will be notices in the Change Log when that happens and will note what has been changed beyond maybe grammar and typos.

I, and the rest of the team, really do appreciate your interest in checking out Starlight and hope you enjoy playing as much as we enjoyed making it.
